How would you describe your design style?
Upbeat, modern-retro vibe with a touch of psychedelia - heavily influenced by music and culture of the 60s,70s and 80s
Where do you get your inspiration for your illustrations?
I live in a small coastal town, nestled into the Australia bush and am surrounded by the wonders of Mother Nature who continues to inspire me everyday. Coupled with a background in Graphic Design, I’m also totally in awe of the likes of John Alcorn, Peter Max and Milton Glaser.
What would you say to someone asking for advice on how to get in touch with their creative side?
Just give anything a go, and don’t let what you perceive to be ‘a lack of creativity’ hold you back. It's a matter of experimenting until you find that thing you love to do and continually working those creative ‘muscles’. Not trying at all is far worse than failing.
Are there any illustrators or designers that you admire or take inspiration from?
There are absolutely TOO MANY to list here. My eclectic taste and admiration for artists and creatives spans many decades, styles and mediums. I just like to stay open to inspiration, no matter where it comes from.
Do you have a personal favorite among the 4 illustrations you did for this project? If so, which one and why?
I think my favourite would have to be the Sunshine - who doesn’t need a little more of that in their life? That said, I’m stoked with how they ALL turned out.
